KMEC is a family run business led by Mr West B. Sikombe, established in 1986. He is assisted by his two sons, Kombatende Sikombe and Mizengo Sikombe.

West B Sikombe is an exploration Geologist trained at Leningrad Mining Institute (Russia) and McGill University’s Mineral Economics Programme, 1977 (Canada).

West has vast experience having worked as an exploration geologist in Zambia with Minex and then later on as Chief Geologist.

In addition, he served as General Manager at Mindeco small mines responsible for small scale gemstone mining operations in Zambia. West initiated the first lapidary while with Mindeco. He then moved on to Zimco where he was in charge of Emerald mining operations, tourmaline and other semi-precious stones.

West has been involved in Amethyst exploration and mining since 1981. He currently runs his own mine in Southern Province and has continued to export Amethyst to Germany, Japan, India and Hong Kong. At present, he is Executive Director at Kankule mining applying the 30 years’ experience to good use.

    Komba has vast experience in business and marketing. His vision and aspiration to drive the family business forward is motivated by his broader exposure to 'what's going on' on the ground. Having a hands on approach at the base of the mine, Komba act's as a catalyst in driving the engine forward and supporting his father's effort's to build a thriving business.

    Working closely as a family is great... we have great facilities and products coming out of the mine dad has cherished and kept going for as long as i can remember. The amethyst we produce here is beautiful, we want to expand our mission to bring you the best amethyst there is on the global supply chain.

  • Mizengo Sikombe BSc Head of Procurement and Logistics.

    A Bachelor of Science graduate in Construction and Commercial Management from the Sheffield Hallam University - based in Sheffield, England Mizengo brings to the team a wealth of revolutionary vision, knowledge and experience having worked in the UK Construction Industry as a Consultant - Quantity Surveyor. Mizengo bring's industrial experience of small to larger scale project experience having dealt with infrastructural budgeting and contractual agreements. He carries the wealth of experience over to support the family business planning and co-ordination in the most efficient manner whilst taking responsibility for procurement and logistical matters.
